Two and Half Men and One Girl

I'm on set today with the cast of Two and Half Men shooting a small role for an upcoming episode.  Everyone's been really nice and the show is hilarious!  Charlie Sheen and Angus T. Jones are great and I'm both learning a lot and having a lot of fun.  Mostly, I'm mostly studying today with my on-set tutor, but, I've been through one rehearsal.

Here's something pretty rad -- my on-set tutor, Suzanne, is the on-set tutor we had during Dr. Phil's "Make My Kid a Star Contest"!  She's a great teacher and keeps things very interesting.  She loves books so we've talked a lot about various classics today.

In a way, today is a dream come true.  In another way, I feel like its just the beginning!  Either way, I'm just grateful for this opportunity and I want to do the best job I can with my role.

Oh, and having my own trailer with my name on the door is totally chill

Gracie To Shoot "Two and a Half Men" This Week!

Gracie couldn't be more excited to be filming her first major television episode for the hit situation comedy, Two and a Half Men.  The episode shoots starting Tuesday at Warner Brothers studios in Burbank, California.  My understanding is that the episode will be the first new post-strike episode aired.

So, watch your local listings for new episodes of Two and a Half Men!

Writer's Strike Sends Me Packing...

Well, isn't that just the worst luck?  I land a guest starring role on an episode of "Two and Half Men" and the writer's go on strike almost the very next day.  So, I packed my bags for my dad's in Orange County and now I'm packing my lunch as well because I started school yesterday.  I'm the newest 7th grader at a school right our home where I live when I'm with my dad.  Argh!!!

The good news is that everyone was really nice to me on my first day and now I'm much more relaxed about it than before.  Starting a new school is hard.  It's even harder when you would have been filming scenes with Charlie Sheen if the writers and producers weren't arguing about money.

Oh well, I'm just going to have fun at my new school, make some new friends and make the best of it!

XOXO,

~Gracie

The Writer's Strike: I totally understand, but, it still stinks for me!

OMG! First I land a guest star role on an episode of "Two and a Half Men" and then the writer's go on strike! What's a girl to do?

I was scheduled to shoot the episode this week and now the shoot is delayed until the writers and producers resolve their differences and the writers approve a new labor agreement.  I totally understand that the writers want to get their best possible deal and the producers have business issues to consider, but, it sure does stink for me!  It sure would have been nice if they could have waited just ONE MORE WEEK before going on strike

Let's hope they settle their differences soon so that my shoot can be rescheduled quickly!

My First TV Role! Wahoo!!

I have the most incredible news ever!!! My manager just called me to let me know that I booked my first major television role.  The role is a small guest starring role for a major network on one of the hottest sitcoms!  I'm so excited!!  I will be shooting in early November and will tell you more as soon as I can

Bring Out Your Dead

I just got back from several days in Oranage County with my dad, my brother and my dad's fiance', Niki.  We won't all be together on Halloween so we celebrated Monday night by painting our faces, carving pumpkins and playing in the surf at Laguna Beach under the light of the moon.  It was pretty spooky with all the smoke from the wildfires drifting in the night sky.

I was sad/crazy clown and acted pretty crazy, too!

We all had a blast and I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!

A Monologue for Director Peter Berg

What would you do if you were on a movie set with your friend who has a part in a new Peter Berg movie starring Will Smith, Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron and the director started a conversation with you and then asked if you'd be willing to perform a monologue for him on the spot with no advance warning?

What would you do if Oscar-winner Charlize Theron was sitting and watching just a few feet away?

Well, that's exactly what happened to me recently on the set of the new Peter Berg movie, John Hancock!

I was on the set because my friend
Jae Head has a role in the movie and he sometimes invites me to the set with another friend of ours named Josh.  Jae's a great actor and I'm very excited for him to be in such a major project with such big names!

So, I'm just sitting there in the observation room with Charlize Theron sitting nearby and Peter Berg starts a friendly conversation with me about where I'm from and asks me if I'm an actor.  I answer him that I'm from Kentucky and that yes, I am an actor.

Mr. Berg, whose only the hottest director in Hollywood, then comes right out and asks me if I could do a monologue for him.

I could feel my heat beating like a bass drum!

Somehow, I found enough composure to answer him confidently and said, "Sure, would you like me to do a funny one or a serious one?"

I hadn't performed the funny monologue for anyone in about 2 years.  My mom, however, has always encouraged me to practice all my monologues in the mirror regularly for just a circumstance.  Still, I don't think my mom really ever thought I'd need to be ready to perform an on-the-spot audition for a famous director in front of one of the most talented actresses in the world!

I perform my favorite serious monologue much more often and it is the monologue I performed on the Dr. Phil show so I was hoping in the back of my mind that Mr. Berg would ask me to perform the serious one.

He didn't.  He asked for the funny one.

I took a moment to sort of get into the mindset required for the monologue and just went right into it.  Even though I hadn't performed that monologue in such a long time, I guess my instincts took over and I worked right through it.

I certainly won't be getting any calls from the Academy for my performance, but, Mr. Berg laughed in the right places.  I was to preoccupied to notice any reaction from Ms. Theron.  Mr. Berg joked that he needed to consider creating a flashback scene for me as Charlize Theron's character.

I don't know what Peter Berg or Charlize Theron thought about my performance, but, I'm pretty proud of myself that I was able to perform on demand for Mr. Berg.

Now, if Mr. Berg would get on with creating that flashback scene! Ha! Ha! (I wish!)

Laguna Beach & Karoake

My dad's all moved into Orange County and I spent my first weekend there with my dad and Warren this past weekend.  We had fun and spent Sunday afternoon at Laguna Beach.  I made a picnic for us and read on the beach while dad relaxed and Warren played in the surf.

(We took this picture of Laguna Beach from the walkway above the beach.)

Then we headed back to the Hollywood area where Warren and I got to karoake Meatloaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Light".  Warren and I won a karoake contest in Louisville a couple of years ago with that song.

(I gotta know right now, do you love me, do you love me forever?)

Auditions have been really slow lately but I'm still having fun and looking forward to a student film that starts filming soon!

XOXO,

~Gracie

Big Bro

My big brother, Warren (14), has been in Hollywood with me and our mom since last Friday.  He and our dad drove out from Kentucky last week because my dad moved from Kentucky to Orange County for a new job that he's excited about.  I'm excited too because he's working just south of L.A. and only 60 miles from Hollywood.

(My Big Bro, Warren Maddox!)

Warren and I are having lots of fun.  We went to an 80's theme party with some of my friends this past weekend on Riverside Drive and just hangin' out and doing stuff together like working out together and going to the movies at Universal City Walk.

My mom has a new dog.  He's really cute and the best dog ever.

I had a couple of commercial auditions lately and still working hard on my school work and with my acting coach.  It's hard when you get lots of callbacks and it looks like you might get a great role, but, then you find out you didn't get the role.  I just stay focused on having a great time and becoming the best I can be.  I'm very happy and I'm very grateful to be following my bliss!

Sorry I haven't posted a blog post in several days.  My dad is my "webmaster" and he's been a little busy lately with the move and the new job

I hope everyone had a great summer!  I love fall.  My grandfather, Herb Warren, always says he can "smell footballs in the air".  He learned that one from his dad, my great grandfather, Ernie Warren, who lived in Ithaca, New York and was a law professor at Cornell University. My grandfather's a lawyer, too, and also went to Cornell Law School.  I haven't been to Ithaca for a couple of years.  I'd love to go back for a visit to see my mom's cousins and aunts and uncles sometime soon!

Ciao!

XOXO,

Go Team 24!

My dad's a huge NASCAR fan so I know a little bit about the sport of car racing.  Since everyone has to have a favorite driver, I picked my favorite driver when I was 4 or 5 years old.

So, who is my favorite driver?

It's cutie Jeff Gordon!  He drives the #24 Chevrolet for Hendricks Racing in the Nextel/Sprint Cup series of NASCAR.

My dad says I picked him for two reasons:

1. His car used to be painted all the color of the rainbow because his sponsor makes all the colors of car paint.  His crew used to be called the "Rainbow Warriors", believe it or not!  So, I thought the car was pretty.

2. Jeff Gordon is a cutie!  Sorry girls, he's married to a model and they just had their first child.

The NASCAR season is winding down and about to enter into what they call the "Chase", which is sort of like the playoffs in other sports.  Jeff Gordon is leading the points and it looks like he has a great chance to win his 5th NASCAR championship, which would put him only one championship behind my Paw Paw's favorite driver, the late Dale Earnhardt!

I haven't been to actual race yet, but, my dad's always saying he wants to take me.  Maybe we'll go to the race in California next year?

XOXO,

Gracie

PS - Go Jeff Gordon!
