No Word & Good News

Well, the project I was recommended for by the Casting Director before I left for Kentucky has disappeared from the radar screen for the moment.  Of course, this is all part of the process.  Everything has to align to book a great role -- the right project -- the right timing -- the right audition performance -- and then the project itself has to get the green light for production.  When they tell you that acting in Hollywood is mostly about handling rejection -- they're definitely telling the truth!

On another note, I had a great experience auditioning for what would be a great role in an uplifting movie with a very positive message.  My manager, Marnie Cooper, called right after the audition to let me know that "I'm in the mix", which is good news because I was able to go straight to call back for this project.  That means that I didn't participate in the first round of auditions and when I go back to audition again, it will be for a 2nd "call back".  I loved the script and I really related to the character so I've got high hopes, oh, I've got, high hopes... (sorry, I had a goofy song moment there!)

My mom moves to Arizona next week, which is cool because she'll be a lot closer to Southern California than she was in Kentucky!

I'm having a family pool day today, so ciao for now

XOXO,
Gracie

Ayna Grace Maddox in Role of Dominique Francon (I Wish!)

I'm back in Orange County with my dad and Nicole.  I just finished reading "The Fountainhead" by my name sake, Ayn Rand and I LOVED it.  Of course, I read it imagining me playing the role of Dominique! Ha! Ha!  My dad has the movie version with Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal, who was from Kentucky like me.  So, if they ever remake the movie, they'll need another Kentucky drama queen to play Domique, right?  Can you think of anyone better to play Domique than a Kentucky actress named after Ayn Rand?

Kentucky's own Patricia Neal as Dominique Francon

Doing Research for a Western

I'm headed to Montana to spend a week on a Dude Ranch! lol!  I'm just about finished reaching "The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand -- which is only AMAZING!  (I was named after Ayn Rand -- my first name is "Ayna".)  Hope everyone's having a great summer.  I haven't heard anything back yet from the role the Casting Director selected me to play, but, I may be auditioning for a new movie role next week.

Toodles,
Gracie

My Dad's Wedding

My dad got married this month back home in Kentucky.  He and Nicole have been together for 3 years.  She and I have a really good relationship and we've become even closer since she moved out to be with us in Orange County.  I'm back in Kentucky with my mom (yay!) for several weeks having some summer fun at our place on the lake and in Louisville.  It will be fun to see all my family and to go boating and swimming and stuff.

The wedding was beautiful and I had fun being in the wedding as the Junior Maid-of-Honor.  My brother, Warren, was the Junior Best Man.  I was Niki's stylist for the whole wedding weekend

Here's a few pics...

Casting Director's Choice for Supporting Role

I just got some exciting news!!! I'm the Casting Director's "1st Choice" for a great supporting role in a major motion picture that will start filming late this month or in early July.  Now, the decision's in the hands of the Director so I've got my fingers and toes crossed   I love the script because it has some very heavy themes that tell a story that too many young women tragically experience.  I'll keep ya' posted!

How Do I Act? - A Complete Course for Teaching Acting to Kids

Gracie gets emails each week from parents and their kids who have an interest in becoming an actor or in becoming the best actor they can be.  Some dream of one day being in TV or in a film and others just want to do a great job in a local or school play.  Fortunately for Gracie, she has one of the very best acting coaches for children in all of Hollywood, Marnie Cooper.  Marnie has been instrumental in helping Gracie develop her acting capabilities and, best of all, she's just a fantastic mentor and friend.

Now, I know that not everyone's parents are willing to move to Los Angeles to work with Marnie one-on-one.  That's a incredibly big move with more risks and sacrifice than I can share in this post.  Here's the great news -- YOU DON'T NEED TO MOVE TO HOLLYWOOD TO GET ALL OF MARNIE'S GREAT COACHING BECAUSE YOU CAN NOW HAVE "MARNIE IN A BOOK"!

That's right!  Marnie has created A Complete Course called "How Do I Act?" which we simply call "Marnie in a Book"!

Just like Gracie and so many other working kid actors in Hollywood, you can hire Marnie as your own personal acting coach today!  Here's how...

My Aunt Lori On Mission to Educate Women About Minimally Invasive Hysterectomy

My aunt, Dr. Lori Warren, has launched a mission to educate women about that fact that they absolutely do not need to be "opened up" to have a hysterectomy. With 85% of all hysterectomies still done in a relatively archaic manner, this is information every woman needs to know.

Dr. Warren is my mom's sister. Her children, Dava, Evie and Aiden are some of my best friends in the world.  Evie is my age and we have grown up together.  She's a brilliant woman and obviously a top-notch physician.  I love her very much and I am very proud of her.

Aunt Lori, YOU ROCK!

Here's the video and link to the story from the report featured on CBS News with Katie Couric:

Watch Me on "Two and a Half Men" Monday Night March 17th at 9 PM EST/PST

The very first new post-strike episode of the hit sitcom "Two and a Half Men" will air this coming Monday night, March 17th, at 9 PM EST/PST.  Gracie makes a small non-speaking but prominent guest starring appearance as "Lily".  You'll want to pay close attention to the "Pizza Parlor" scene.

Gracie had a blast taping the episode at Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, CA and really enjoyed working with the fine actors, writers, producers, directors and crew that make "Two and a Half Men" one of the most successful television shows in history.

Gracie Maddox Wraps Guest Star Appearance on Two and a Half Men

Gracie Maddox completed shooting for her Guest Star appearance on the hit sitcom "Two and a Half Men" starring Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones.  Gracie Guest Stars along with a lovely trio of veteran female actors, Kimberly Quinn, Eve Gordon and Sandra Dee Robinson.

(Gracie Maddox & Charlie Sheen)

The episode (Episode 107 "Meander to your dander") is the first post-strike episode and should air very soon.  Check your local listings.

Gracie says that the entire cast, crew and production team were incredibly nice and absolutely wonderful people.  She feels very lucky that her very first appearance on a prime-time network show will be for "Two and a Half Men".

(Gracie Maddox & Jon Cryer)

"I wouldn't even know where to start with how great I feel about the entire experience," said Gracie.  "It was just the very best learning experience I could hope for and I had a lot of fun in my scene with Angus, Charlie and Eve (Eve Gordon)."

(L-R: Sandra Dee Robinson, Gracie Maddox, Kimberly Quinn)

Always one to pay close attention to even the tiniest details, Gracie loved everyone told her "See you NEXT TIME" instead of "Good-bye"!

Of course, like a great sports team, you have to immediately start preparing for the next big game.  So, Gracie will enjoy the weekend while she prepares for her Monday audition for a major motion picture.

As always, Gracie is very grateful for all the support she gets from those of you who are following her career!  She particularly wants to show some love to all the great folks from Australia and New Zealand who have been visiting her blog and her website and sending such encouraging messages of support.  So, until next time, Gracie says, "G'day Mates!"

Two and Half Men and One Girl

I'm on set today with the cast of Two and Half Men shooting a small role for an upcoming episode.  Everyone's been really nice and the show is hilarious!  Charlie Sheen and Angus T. Jones are great and I'm both learning a lot and having a lot of fun.  Mostly, I'm mostly studying today with my on-set tutor, but, I've been through one rehearsal.

Here's something pretty rad -- my on-set tutor, Suzanne, is the on-set tutor we had during Dr. Phil's "Make My Kid a Star Contest"!  She's a great teacher and keeps things very interesting.  She loves books so we've talked a lot about various classics today.

In a way, today is a dream come true.  In another way, I feel like its just the beginning!  Either way, I'm just grateful for this opportunity and I want to do the best job I can with my role.

Oh, and having my own trailer with my name on the door is totally chill
