Relive the Excitement: Gracie's Big Dr. Phil Adventure Reruns Starting Tomorrow!

A Message from Gracie's Dad:

Dr. Phil's "Make My Kid a Star" 3 day special will air over the next 3 days.  Check your local listings or times!

As anyone who follows my blogs or receives regular updates from me already knows, my now 12 year old daughter, Gracie Maddox, participated in this Dr. Phil special and had a mostly wonderful experience.  Not only was Gracie chosen as the aspiring entertainer most worthy of getting her "big break", but, she also won several great prizes.  Most importantly, she had fun and gained important confidence in herself and in her acting abilities.

Most pleasing to her parents was the $25,000 U-Promise 529 College Savings Account she won courtesy of Sallie Mae!

Gracie has been back in L.A. for several weeks now after spending the summer in Kentucky with her family.  I'm proud to say that she continues to exhibit a terrific attitude and to work hard toward becoming the very best actor and human being she can be!  She's yet to land that break-out role, but, she's been auditioned steadily, working diligently with her coach and agents, and has received great feedback from several casting directors.

We've all been on quite a journey since Gracie and her mom, Kiki Wallace, left for L.A. in the fall of 2006.  The journey continues and sometimes seems to bring changes at least weekly and sometimes hourly.  As Gracie and I have talked about constantly, life is about the journey and never so much about the destination and that the only people who ever fail are those who forget to enjoy the journey!

It will be fun to re-live those exciting 3 days that originally aired back in May of this year.  I hope you can tune-in to see once again why this humble blogger is such a very proud papa!

Wow! I didn't realize this is a repeat special! I had no idea Gracie won!
Congratulations! I was honestly hoping she would be the winner. She is beautiful, poised, really wanted it, and her mother was the least crazy of them all. Hope to see Gracie in film and T.V. in the future!
    WAY TO GO!!!

Gracie, congratulations to you and your family. You definitely deserved it. I'm sure it will be an up and down road for all of you, but based on what we saw on the show, you have the talent for it (and a good Mom!) Good luck!

Thanks!  Yes, Meagan and Susan left a nice message and I appreciated them taking the time to do that.  I guess they meant that the producers on Dr. Phil sometimes edit their shows to tell the story as they see it and that sometimes what appears on the show makes it seem like people were acting badly all the time when maybe the bad stuff was only 10 minutes out of 10 hours of taping.  I'm not sure.  Everyone was very fair and and very good to me, so its hard for me to say what they meant exactly.

      XOXO,

      ~Gracie

My 9 year old daughter loves to act and she as an audition coming up and I think the monologue that Gracie used would be fantastic for her -can you tell me where to find it - I would be VERY grateful for your assistance. Thanx.

My understanding is that it has sold-out of the current printing, but, you can try Googling it to see what you find.  If I find out different, I'll make a post to this blog.
